2-1-1 Community Resources & Elder Helpline
DISASTER Mission Statement
2-1-1 Community Resources & Elder Helpline will:
- Provide uninterrupted 24-hour comprehensive Helpline and support services for individuals in our community seeking post-emergency crisis intervention assistance;
- Offer information and referrals to disaster relief resources or health and human services in Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties;
- Serve as a communications/information hub for local service providers by collecting and disseminating resource, recovery, and relocation information; and
- Advocate for the needs of the community as identified by our consumers.
2-1-1 Community Resources & Elder Helpline Priorities During and After Emergencies Are:
- To ensure the safety and security of our agency staff and volunteers;
- To provide information and referrals to clients based on their pre/post-emergency needs;
- To provide supportive listening and/or crisis intervention assistance as indicated during the post-emergency period and during the pre-storm and storm phases in the event of a hurricane;
- To resume day-to-day direct client services as quickly as possible;
- To assist clients with their emergency needs that overlap with our services;
- To advocate on behalf of the client population based upon their post-emergency needs;
- To join with the local VOAD partners to coordinate services for affected populations.
We Will Continue to Focus Our Activities Around the 24-hour Helplines and We Will Enhance Our Service Operations by:
- Seeking out and disseminating current resource information to assist Central Florida community based organizations in their post-emergency relief efforts
- Establishing off-site information and referral centers in affected areas to the extent financial and personnel resources are available.
